Hearts

We had a good Valentines Day. Started out with a heart shaped breakfast, had a heart shaped lunch and a "romantic" family dinner....with heart shaped bread sticks.

For some strange reason blogger flipped this picture
I forgot to get a picture BEFORE half of the breakfast was gone

It takes us about 15-20 min to get to church and we go at 1,
so it's easier to eat lunch in the car on the way to church

Blogger flipped it again!
Love Pouches
Last year, I had seen bags like these at Pottery Barn. For some reason I liked the idea of having something to put the kids Valentines in from us . I just plan on keeping the bags with the V-day decorations and then pulling them out on the morning of and putting their little treat in them. I found a tutorial on-line - but put my own spin on them.--(Side note- did you know that you can use multiple coupons at JoAnn's?! I just found that out myself- which made this little project was SUPER cheap!- plus aside from the decorative stitching, these bags took NO time at all to put together)
Thanks to some really great grandparents, the kids got to have fun Valentine surprises all weekend!
Thanks Grandpa and Grandma Taylor and Gra and Papa! We LOVE (and miss) you!

Addiction.....

I admit it. I will no longer deny it. I have an addiction to projects. I just really enjoy working with my hands and seeing the final result.

When I was pregnant with Owen, I took on too many projects- too many late nights, but there were so many things that I wanted to do. I sewed his car seat blanket and car seat canopy, made burp cloths and made a couple receiving blankets etc. But my top 3 favorite were the diaper bag, quilt and family necklace.
The diaper bag was one of those projects where you have a love/hate relationship. I love Petunia Picklebottom diaper bags- the ones which can be a backpack or shoulder bag (Bree- although I gave you a hard time for spending $100+ on your diaper bag- you changed my mind and I wanted one too!) but alas the price is WAY out of our medical school budget. SO I thought- huh... I'll just make one myself and spend maybe $30 instead of the $170 they normally run. I didn't have a pattern- I just made it up as I went along. I admit there were tears shed as I couldn't find the right stuff to make the bag not too stiff- but stiff enough to have the support I wanted- and times where if I was a swearing gal- I would have cussed. But over all - it was a fun experience. It is FAR from perfect- and not as great as the actual Petunia Picklebottom bag- BUT it does hold diapers and that's all I need!

The quilt was fun. I HATE cutting out of the fabric- but I love seeing it all come together. One of my BFF's :) Heidi quilted it for me and did a great job.

oops..I forgot to flip the picture.

On etsy I've seen these necklaces, and I loved them- but didn't want to pay what they were asking. I found some stamps at Harbor Freight for $4.99- and decided to do it myself!
Sure, just like the diaper bag- it doesn't look as good as the ones I've seen- but I love it anyways

It has our anniversary and the initial and birthstone for Mike and the kids. They are my EVERYTHING.
I already have a new list of projects. I sure don't have as much free time at nights- but I'll take what I can get!

One Month!

I took Owen yesterday for his one month appointment (first official trip out with all 3 kids. we lived to tell). Here in Ohio, instead of seeing them at 2 weeks and then at 2 months- they see them at 1 week, 1 month and then 2 months and so on.
Unfortunately they didn't give me a paper with his stats- so all I can remember is his weight and height- but not his head circumference

Weight 11 lbs. 9 oz
Height 22 inches.

If he continues to gain weight at this same rate then he will be just like his other 2 siblings... cute and plump!

Owen has been a great baby so far. So sweet, loves to cuddle. No real fussiness, he sleeps pretty well at night- with some exceptions!- But most important of all (that his brother and sister never did) he takes a binky AND takes a bottle! Yeah! Whahoo!

It looks like we'll have another blue eyed child- but his hair color is different than the other 2. He is a ton lighter than they started out- and the color of brown has a bit of warmth- his roots also look like he could be a blonde. I guess only time will tell?!

Snoozing, just waiting for the doctor to come....

Right after the check-up

The one way to get Owen to smile is for Mike to bounce him while singing the primary song- "A Happy Family"- works every time. (I'm bummed that it's so blurry- the bouncing kind of made it difficult to get a clear shot)
I love how quickly newborns fit so perfectly into your family- almost like they've always been here.
