"Tea for Two"

To say that we have been suffering from cabin fever is putting it lightly! The weather is still pretty bitter cold, plus to boot Mike's jeep is getting fixed- so we are literally stuck here most days! We have been trying to come up with different ideas to help pass the time. At night Samantha and I have been reading "Fancy Nancy". In this book Nancy plans a tea party- Samantha thought this was a great idea! So we threw one together! Samantha set the table, I made the heart shaped peanut butter wamiches (sandwiches) and Collin helped by playing by himself! Samantha dressed up in her fanciest dress-up dress (thanks Gra) and Collin even had a little gentlemans hat to wear! Samantha was quite the little lady! She served up the "tea" (water) and didn't spill once! She was even a bit bothered that Collin wasn't behaving with the same manners as he grabbed at his cereal stars and even tried to eat his plate! Can you imagine?!

"These are a few of my favorite things..."

When I think about my life, it seems like it's the little things that truly bring me the most happiness...

-When I hold Collin he likes to hold onto my thumb
- Samantha can sing the theme song for my favorite show Gilmore Girls all the way through. (ya I know that may not be something to be proud of!-but I love it!)
-When Mike comes home during the day- even though it is usually quick- just enough time to change into scrubs for anatomy- it makes us all happy!
-Having Samantha just come up at random times to tell me "I Luh (love) you mom"
-Getting snuggies from Collin (He likes to snuggle his little head into my neck)
-Nights when Mike decides to study at home- and will take a brake to watch an episode of The Office with me
-Collin's favorite song is Nephi's Song. If he is upset it almost always calms him down
-Just talking to Mike
- When Samantha puts on her swimming suit), dressup high heels and sings into her little vacuume (in the middle of the winter)

I am so blessed.

Go Amberlee!

Thank goodness for my wife! Unfortunately I don't feel like I can give her anything good to write about. I'm in school from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm (longer some days) Monday through Saturday and it's winter time and single digit temperatures. Talk about cabin fever! My poor family. One day we hope this will be worth it. Maybe we'll actually get to have enough room in our house for all of our stuff, not to mention people. Until then we'll buckle down and hold on until May 2009.

My first attempt!

So it has taken awhile for me to really decide to start a family blog. I had a lot of reservations about the whole thing. I'd seen and read other blogs and I guess I felt inadequate? Could I write interesting or funny enough things to make it even worth it? But then a friend told me how she is doing it as a journal for her little family. I hadn't even thought about it that way- duh. For both Samantha and Collin I had started a journal for each of them on the day they were born. I inteded to then keep writing in them until they reached an age where they could then continue on their own.My own mother did this for me and I have loved reading back through it. I loved my childhood! But I don't know why I ever thought I could keep up on it- I fail miserabley (is that a word?) with my own journal. A couple of days ago I came across this quote -
" You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences."
Gordon B. Hinckley
Our family is going through some pretty exciting things- living in new places- and I want our kids to be able to look back and see what we experienced together. Let's just hope I am better at this than I am with our keeping up with our individual journals!
